Both Xiaomi phones have similar design features, including tall 6.67-inch displays with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and narrow bezels. They have straight sides, similar button and port layouts, and three cameras in black, blue, and white colors. However, the back of the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus is glass, while the POCO F5 has a plastic back. The phone is larger, with a rectangular camera unit, and weighs 210 grams more than the POCO F5. Both phones have IP53 splash resistance, making them a tie.

Display

topsikshaBoth phones come with a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The display of the POCO F5 seems a bit more bright than that of the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus, but the Redmi Note Pro Plus’ display seemed just a touch more vibrant. Both displays come with support for Dolby Vision, and are very good for their segment, but we are giving this one to the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus, because it seems a little more vibrant. But it is a very close finish.

Processor, RAM and storage

The POCO F5 is a budget flagship with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chip, similar to the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chip, while the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus uses LDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. Both devices have 8GB/ 128GB and 12GB/ 256GB RAM and storage variants.

Gaming and multimedia

The POCO F5 offers a superior gaming experience with its powerful processor, surpassing the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus in Asphalt Racing and Genshin Impact. Both phones handle casual titles, but the POCO F5 excels in higher settings. Both phones offer excellent sound quality with stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos support.

Cameras

The Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus has a 200-megapixel main sensor, outperforming the POCO F5’s 64-megapixel main sensor with OIS, 8-megapixel ultrawide, and 2-megapixel macro. The POCO F5 has good photographs but struggles with detail. Both phones have good 16-megapixel selfie cameras, but the main sensor wins the round comfortably.

Software

The Xiaomi POCO F5 and Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus are both Android devices running on MIUI 14. The POCO F5 has preinstalled third-party apps, while the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus has a cleaner interface with Xiaomi utilities. The choice between these phones is difficult, with those seeking a newer version of Android preferring the POCO F5, while those seeking a cleaner UI prefer the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus.

Battery life and charging

Both phones have 5,000mAh batteries and can last a day and a half of normal usage. The POCO F5 generally lasts an hour or two longer than the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus. The Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus charges at 120W, while the POCO F5 charges at 67W. Both phones have chargers that support maximum charging speed, resulting in faster charging times.

General performance

Both phones are equally matched in handling routine tasks like web browsing, social networking, messaging, and emails. The POCO F5 has a clear edge when running multiple apps due to its powerful chip and faster RAM. Both phones handle calls well, but the POCO F5’s lighter, compact form factor makes it easier to handle. Both phones have side-mounted fingerprint sensors and 5G support.

Price

The Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus is priced at Rs 29,999 for 8GB/256GB and Rs 32,999 for 12GB/256GB. The POCO F5 has the same price but slightly more expensive 12GB/256GB variant at Rs 33,999. The slight price advantage in higher RAM and storage variants makes it a tie.

Both phones are closely matched in many aspects, but differ significantly in processor and camera. The POCO F5 offers faster chips, memory, and storage, making it a better choice for those seeking a budget flagship device.
