As American Express continues along an impressive growth trajectory, the company is preparing to ascend the ranks of the Federal Reserve’s bank categorization. With the anticipated category changes will come heightened requirements in the liquidity, capital, and regulatory reporting domains. To prepare, American Express is pursuing Project Fast Forward to interpret these new requirements and uplift capabilities to meet our needs. A Program Management Office (PMO) has been established to oversee this multi-year transformation initiative that is critical to American Express’ continued success. The PMO will coordinate across Finance and other enterprise partners to facilitate the end-to-end lifecycle of change management.

The Manager will be responsible for helping to lead a workstream of the program and collaborating closely with members of the PMO team to drive key outcomes with business partners. This role will have significant exposure to global stakeholders and senior leaders. The Manager will partner with those leaders to establish project plans and tracking to ensure progress against project milestones. Each workstream has a high degree of operational complexity given the level and detail of data requirements, tight timelines and required coordination across multiple teams. The Manager will need to be dynamic, adaptable, and demonstrate ability to draw connections while leveraging prior experiences to positively influence the project.

How will you make an impact in this role?
• Comprehensive project management to execute on strategic priorities, taking a project from planning and mobilization through execution and delivery
• Consistent application of governance standards across a broad set of stakeholders
• Extensive stakeholder engagement and facilitation
• Track progress against key program milestones including creation of presentation views for executive review

Minimum Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in Finance, Treasury, Regulatory Space or similar.
• Instinctive project management acumen: attention to detail along with ability to keep the big picture in perspective, both proactive and adaptable, ready and willing to handle challenges
• Strong relationship leadership with a track record of positively collaborating, influencing, and extensively coordinating with internal and external partners, including senior leaders
• Highly motivated self-starter and quick learner with effective and independent prioritization skills
• Powerful professional presence with the ability to set the right tone when engaging with others
• Superb communication skills to synthesize key messages, prepare impactful materials, and tailor appropriately for the audience
• Proven ability to manage multiple demands successfully within a matrixed organization
• Team player comfortable working collaboratively to resolve challenges in a demanding environment
• Flexible and adaptable as well as comfortable with ambiguity and ad-hoc requests

Qualifications

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
