Job Description: As a School-Based Special Education Teacher in Portland, OR, you will be responsible for creating and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student. You will collaborate with other educators, families, and school staff to ensure that students with disabilities receive the support and instruction necessary for their academic and social success.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with Oregon state regulations and federal guidelines.
Provide individualized and small group instruction to students with diverse learning needs.
Collaborate with general education teachers, school administrators, and families to support student achievement.
Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust instructional methods as needed.
Participate in IEP meetings, providing professional insights and recommendations for student progress and goals.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress and ensure compliance with all reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
Valid Oregon Teaching License with a Special Education endorsement.
At least one year of experience as a Special Education Teacher in a school setting.
Knowledge of Oregons special education laws and regulations.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and engage with families effectively.
