B.1. THINK AND TELL :

Q. 1. Name the qualities of the speaker’s native land.
Ans. The native land is rare, rich, fair, fresh, dear, not dull or cold, warm and bold, true and old.

Q. 2. Tell the qualities of men and women who live in the land of the speaker.
Ans. Man of the native land are braver, and women do not hesitate.

Q. 3. What is the wish of the poet ?
Ans. The poet wish to protect her country, so that he could die freely and thought his lot divine.

B.1.2. Say whether the following statements are ‘True’ or ‘False’.
1. The poem is about a fresh and fair land.
2. The speaker is ready to sacrifice his life for the sake of his motherland.
3. The poet doesn’t talk about the virtue and beauty of his brithplace.
4. According to the speaker, no enemy can cross the border of his native land.

Ans. ‘My Land’ is a very perfect title. It short in form, easy to speak, very sharp and representative to the theme of the poem.
Another such a suitable heading should be our country.

Q. 2. Write the main idea of the poem “My Land”.
Ans. The poem ‘My Land’ describes the merits and features of the native land of speaker. It also describes the people and their fielding. It indicates to serve our native land is our best duty.

Q. 3. Do you agree with the views of the poet? Give reasons.
Ans. Yes, I agree with the views of the poet that our native land is thè best of all and to protect and serve it is our best duty. Because, one cannot grow and prosper without one’s native land.

Q. 4. What, according to the poet, are the qualities of one’s own country which one ought to be proud of?
Ans. If one’s country is prosperous, meritorious, rare, fair and bold, it is the matter of pride for which one ought to be proud.

C. WORD STUDY:

Look up the poem again and pick out the words that mean the opposite of the following words. Wirte these opposite words next to each of the words listed here.

Q. Sit in a group of four or five. Talk about what you like/don’t like in your counry.

             Rohit       :         I don’t like the politics, thinking of some groups of people.
             Shobhit  :        I like different elemate, different regions and different people of my country very much.
             Tiku         :       I like festivals of our country very much.

E. COMPOSITION:

You are Saket, the Secretary of the Cultural Committee of your school. Your cultural committee is going to stage a drama on the occasion of the Independence Day.

Write a notice on the notice board in this connection inviting students and their parents to watch the play being staged. Date, time, name of the play and place must be mentioned in it. Look at the format of a notice :
